Organized in 1927, the Sleepy Hollow Tarrytown Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit organization promoting the advancement of local and international businesses in Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow and the preservation and promotion of the villages' residential quality and historical beauty. The Chamber of Commerce is an important institution in Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow.

Often, businesses or individuals thinking of relocating to the region contact the Chamber first to receive area information. The Chamber responds to thousands of these inquiries each year from all over the world by disseminating pamphlets and publications such as this one.

A Bustling Historical Region

Once truly a "sleepy" area, Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow are now home to approximately 20,000 people, and, although many commute to New York City, a growing number are dependent on the local communities for their livelihood. Since the opening of the Tappan Zee Bridge in 1955, many Rockland County residents have been drawn across the Hudson for employment.

Together with the local restorations, the Chamber takes an active role in promoting The Tarrytown Music Hall, Historic Hudson Valley (comprised of Philipsburg Manor and Kykuit) and Lyndhurst, helping entice hundreds of thousands of visitors each year to the legendary Hudson River region.
